Local Girls compete at USA Hockey National Camp

To advance to St. Cloud State University in July, three Roseau and two Warroad athletes had to prove they were the best in Minnesota out of the thousands of 15-year-old girls nationwide.

Recently, Roseau's Jasmine Hovda, one of the five players, remarked that she had really enjoyed playing for the Natties.

The what?

"That's our term for the national camp," she said, explaining that they had tryouts beginning this spring for players from the district.

"Tom Murphy was our coach. He picked the team."
