Our Last Camping Trip for 2022

August 26, 2022

Kyle and his Crappie

Sarah, Brian, Kyle and I went on our final camping trip for the year.

We decided to go to Rogers on the Red Campground. We went there last year during our camping excursions.

We are thinking this may be our favorite camping spot out of all that we have checked out over the past two summers. We needed to go and check it out one more time to make sure.

Rogers is getting new owners soon. The new owners are Pat and Tony who came to our campsite and introduced themselves to us. They seemed very nice and will be making some improvements after they take over the campground.

We did talk to them about fishing. Pat sure made it sound like a great lake to fish. Whether it is summer or winter, the walleye are biting.

He said it's the perfect place to fish Thanksgiving weekend. Hmmm...cook a meal for everyone or go fishing. It's a very easy decision for me...FISHING!

I doubt that it will ever happen, but a girl needs to have dreams!

Now it is time to plan our Montana "things to do" since camping is over for us for 2022. The four of us will be heading to Montana in a couple weeks for some new adventures. While camping, we started our "things to do" list.

• Glacier National Park - Sun Road

• Lake McDonald - it has lots of cool colored rock. I bet you can't guess who wants to check this place out!! Lol!

• Fly-fishing

• Wild Horse Island

• City of Whitefish - lots of cool places to shop on Central Avenue!

• City of Kalispell - looks like an adventure waiting to happen.

• M & S Meats

• Drive the back roads to spot some animals and rocks!

• Brewery

• Montana Taco Bell - someone has a goal in life to try a Taco Bell in every state. Right Sarah?!

• Krispy Kreme's - that might have a lil something to do with me but I KNOW everyone will be eating them!

And last but not least on the list so far, Brian found a place called Piggyback BBQ.

We are ready for our Montana adventures to begin...NOW! Right guys!?

Mexican-Style

Street Corn

Ingredients

4 fresh ears corn (with husks)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon bottled hot pepper sauce (optional)

4 ounces Cotija

Bottled hot pepper sauce (optional)

Directions

Grill corn on the rack for 25 to 30 minutes or until corn kernels are tender, turning and rearranging ears occasionally.

Meanwhile, in a shallow dish stir together mayonnaise, garlic, paprika, and, if desired, the 1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce. Place cheese in another shallow dish or pie plate.

Remove cornhusks. Roll corn in mayonnaise mixture to coat; sprinkle evenly with cheese. If desired, serve with additional hot pepper sauce.

Joke of the Week

A couple moves into their new house. One day the husband comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, you know, the lawn is getting quite long. Can you mow it?"

The husband says, "What do I look like? Jim's Mowing?"

A few days go by, and he comes home from work and his wife says, "Honey, the tire is flat. I think we need a new one. Could you change it for me?"

He says: "What do I look like? Bob Jane?"

Another few days go by, and it's raining pretty hard. The wife finds a leak in the roof. She says, "Honey, there's a leak on the roof! Can you please fix it?"

He says, "What do I look like? Tim the Toolman?"

The next day the husband comes home, and the roof is fixed. So is the plumbing. So is the car. He asks his wife what happened.

"Oh, I had a handyman come in and fix them," she says. "Great! How much is that going to cost me?" he snarls.

Wife says: "Nothing. He said he'd do it for free if I either baked him a cake or slept with him."

"Uh, well, what kind of cake did you make?" asks the husband. "What do I look like?" she asks, "Betty Crocker?"
