Protect Your Nose!

Remember the oldie but goodie swearing in question for courtroom testimony: "Do you swear (now there's a heavy word) to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" God? It used to be done with one's hand placed firmly on a copy of God's Word, the Bible. I understand that in at least some courtrooms now, God has been removed from the statement which, in my opinion, leaves more room for the whole thing to fall apart.
