During his spring semester at Bemidji State University, Houston O'Leary, along with five other students, presented their engineering projects at a conference in Washington, D.C. Their professors had highly recommended these students to be awarded this opportunity. Because of this, Houston was one of a few chosen by the National Institute of Science to do an internship study with the Department of Defense. He spent his summer at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Here he was able to further his study in engineering and artificial intelligence.
