Something Is Going On!!!

The sun shines; the stars twinkle; "the fields are jubilant" (Psalm 96:12) and all the birds join in, lifting their heads towards heaven. "...the rivers clap their hands" (Psalm 98:8). Something is going on; something has gone on! Something BIG! Too big to ignore. Eugene Peterson attempts to capture the commotion, or more explicitly the celebration this way in his paraphrase of Psalm 96:11-12, "Let's hear it from the sky, with the earth joining in, and a huge round of applause from the Sea. Let wilderness turn cartwheels, animals, come dance, put every tree of the forest in the choir."
