Emily Baugher is the new owner of the local Farmers Union Agency. A big welcome to the newest Independent Insurance Agent assisting individuals, families, businesses and farms helping to protect what matters most to them.

Emily purchased Farmers Union Agency, formerly located at Citizens State Bank, and renamed it Emily Baugher Insurance - A Farmers Union Agency.

"Knowing Steve was looking at retirement and that Farmers Union Insurance would need a replacement it spark a conversation about how I could own my own business." she said.

During their conversations Steve brought up that he was looking to retire and, since Emily was looking to start a new adventure, the fit was perfect.

Steve and Connie Creviston, stayed on for awhile to help with the switch over of ownership. They shared all their knowledge of the business as to make a smooth transition for past and new customers.

"They were a huge help in getting me started," expressed Emily.

Emily had experience in sales and customer service, from working in her family's business, Annie's Trading Post, for several years. Being raised in a family of small business owners Emily knew owning her own business one day was her passion.

"I was ready for a new challenge and I have always wanted to own my own business," she stated.

She studied Sales and Marketing Management at Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks.

Emily and Andy Ziegler, her fiance, live in Roseau with their four kids: Jordyn, Heath, Carter, and Hutch.

Meet Erica Mertens who jumped aboard to help individuals alongside Emily with all their insurance needs.

"I was excited to learn and explore a new opportunity," she said. "I enjoy helping people understand the insurance industry and the different types of coverage and what it means."

Erica is married to Dustin and they have two sons, Trey and Ty.

She is licensed in property, casualty health and life. She looks forward to working with everyone to purchase the insurance that fits their needs.
