Greenwood, Ind.- Iva Ardell (Strandlund) Lynn was born on September 4, 1930, to Elmer and Anna (Mattson) Strandlund. She was born "in town" at the Lundquist family home in Roseau.

Iva grew up on the family farm North of Roseau. She attended school nearby at the Strandlund School, District 27E. (Grades 1-8). She graduated from Roseau High School in 1948.

Her first job was working in the Roseau County Auditor's Office making $100.00 per month. By the time she graduated from high school she had saved $400.00 and enrolled at Bethel College in St. Paul.
