Thief River Falls- Mavis A. Besserud passed away on February 27, 2023 at the Thief River Falls Care Center. She was 86.

Mavis was born in Greenbush on May 24, 1936, the daughter of Hiram and Alyda (Helgeson) Erickson. She attended school in Duxby and Roseau, graduating from Roseau High School. 

Mavis married John Besserud on December 22, 1953 in Roseau. After John was honorably discharged from the Army they moved to Crookston. After a short time they moved to Thief River Falls where they raised their six children.
