On April 26, 2023, investigators from the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force and Violent Crime Enforcement Team executed a search warrant in an apartment complex in the city of Warroad. While executing the warrant, investigators located a suspected homemade explosive device in one of the apartments.

Residents from the apartment complex were evacuated for safety concerns.

Investigators requested assistance from the Crow Wing County Bomb Squad.

The Crow Wing County Bomb Squad responded to the scene and safely removed the suspected explosive device from the residence. The incident was resolved with no injuries.

Investigators believe there is no ongoing threat to the public and more information will be released upon formal charges. The suspect is in custody in the Roseau County Jail.
