Florence Dahlen, 95

Roseau- Florence Dahlen was born on March 23, 1928, in Roseau to the late Francis and Emlinda (Bergstrom) Drown.  She was baptized at Roseau Evangelical Lutheran Church, confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Roseau and attended school in Roseau.  She was united in marriage to James Dahlen on December 9, 1950, at St. Paul and the two made their home on their farm at Roseau until moving to Minneapolis in 1955.  She was employed as a phone operator in Roseau and St. Paul for a short period of time.  She and James moved to Texas where she was employed at the Lewisville School District as a housekeeper.  Following James' retirement, they then moved to Bagley in 1986 where they resided for 3 years before moving back to the farm in Roseau.  She was employed at the Super 8 motel in Roseau as a housekeeper and worked part time at the Roseau School District in the Grandparent Program and also in Grand Forks with their Grandparent Program.  James passed away in 2001 and Florence continued to make her home in Roseau until moving to the Warroad Care Center where she passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 95.

Florence was a member of the VFW and Eagles Auxiliary, and Rose Free Lutheran Church of Roseau.  She very much enjoyed traveling extensively domestically and internationally with her husband and son as James worked for commercial airlines based in Texas and Minnesota.

She is survived by her son John (Darlene) Dahlen of Osceola, Wis., 4 grandchildren: Jeremy of Hawkins, Texas, Lindsey of Lewisville, Texas, Justin of Lancaster, Pa., and Ryan of Osceola, Wis., along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, brother Gordon Drown, and sister Margret Elgin.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 1, 2023 at Rose Free Lutheran Church in Roseau with Pastor Todd Erickson presiding.

Visitation was held one hour prior to services at the church.

Interment services were held at Moe-Rose Free Lutheran Cemetery in Roseau following services.

Arrangements were with Collins Funeral Home of Greenbush.
