Right off, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Roseau City Clerk Beth Carlson remarked that everyone has an opponent except for incumbent Mayor Dan Fabian, who faces no opposition.
However, long-term incumbent Roseau City Councilmember Pat Novacek, who filed for reelection, will face opposition.
"There are two openings and four candidates," said Ms. Carlson.
Incumbent Mary Hayes chose not to run for reelection.
Three Roseau residents - Keith Severson, Oliver Ullman, and Kavan Lovgren - have filed for the two open seats on the council.
The filing deadline was this past Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Ms. Carlson didn't rule out the possibility of write-in candidates in the November general election.
A Baseball Line-up
Over at the Roseau School, the three incumbent school board members - Michelle "Micky" Hulst, Vonda Danielson, and Thor Didrikson - did refile.
So did six more to make this one of the most contested school board races in years.
Meet the new candidates: Kreg Kennedy, David Simmons, Neal Vatnsdal, Traci Ketring, Jennifer Lovgren, and Jason Cummings.
That's definitely showing an interest in wanting to make a difference for Roseau School District 682.
