In their own words, 4 of the 6 candidates personally prepared their résumés for voters in Warroad School District 690. These profiles appear in the order in which they arrived at the Roseau Times Region.
Robyn Rolli
My name is Robyn Rolli and I have three children in the Warroad public school system ranging from 2nd grade to 11th grade. I am a stay-at- home mom and enjoy new challenges and experiences.
Prior to living in Warroad my husband and I were foster parents for 10 years for over 30 children. This was an amazing experience developing relationships with both children, adults and state employees. I would like to bring my knowledge and experience to the Warroad School Board with new ideas and fresh perspectives. I think its important to develop processes and procedures that continue to grow in an ever-changing world.
I think the challenges Warroad faces are the same as most communities and how to continue to adapt to the changing environment around them. We live in a world of immediate gratification; it is important to take the time to complete tasks correctly and not always quickly. I hope to be able to be a part of a school board that first and foremost places the needs of all students first and works together to make the learning environment one that all students can thrive in.

I have been on the Warroad School Board for nearly three years. I would like to continue the positive direction our District 690 has made in the post COVID years. We are currently running with a very nearly balanced budget and have not needed to make any major cuts. We have a very competent Admin Team and an amazing group of Teachers and Support Staff who adeptly serve our student body every day. I would like to continue on the path we are on. See the budget balanced and then move forward responsibly with the best interest of all students and staff in mind.
Damian McMillin
I was born and raised in Warroad. I am a 2002 graduate of Warroad High School. I currently work and reside in Warroad and am a 22-year member of the Warroad Fire Department. My kids are currently enrolled in the Warroad School District with my oldest set to graduate in 2026.
This is my way of giving back to the school district and community that has been so good to me and my family. It is my belief that the school district truly is the heartbeat of our community. When our school district thrives, our community thrives. We are so fortunate to have the community support that we do for our youth. The opportunities and program offerings they have in the Warroad School District are second to none. Those are things that need to continue. As people are out looking for employment opportunities or a new community to call home, the school district is in a unique position to help make that decision.
For me, running for school board is more about having an opportunity to support our students, teachers, and administration than it is to make changes. Our district, no different than many others, has had its fair share of hardships in recent years. Past members of our school board have worked hard to make sure that our district survived those hardships, and I intend to do the same. Undoubtedly, there will be hard decisions that need to be made, but none of us are experts or have all the answers. Supporting our students, faculty, and administration, listening to their thoughts and ideas, and working together to make those decisions is what will make our district stronger.
Go Warriors!!

I am running for the Warroad school board because I feel a fair representation of the student body in the community is important and should be secured in order to create an equal opportunity environment for all students. I don't think change is the correct word but enhance might be more appropriate. I have experienced or know directly, families that have experienced struggles with the affordability in the early learners center and feel more could be done to help the community be successful in their children's pre-education. I also have a passion for the older children as well in creating a safe learning environment that they can feel comfortable going to on the day to day.
