Serving Roseau County for over 100 Years - The Official Roseau County Newspaper
We checked out Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs on our vacation and it was amazing. I do like rocks and red ones are at the top of my list.
The garden's red rock formations were created millions of years ago during a geological upheaval event called the Laramide Orogeny. Native American people camped in the park; they are believed to have been attracted to wildlife and plant life in the area and used overhangs created by the rocks for shelter.
The Garden of the Gods Park is popular for hiking and rock climbing. It attracts more than two million visitors a year, making it the city's most visited park.
One-Pot Macaroni Cheeseburger Soup
This One-Pot Macaroni Cheeseburger Soup combines the savory flavors of a cheeseburger with the comfort of macaroni in a creamy, cheesy soup. A perfect hearty meal for busy weeknights, it’s quick to prepare and cooked in a single pot for easy cleanup.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
4 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions
In a large pot over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
Add the diced potatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and paprika to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.
Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and milk. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cheese is melted and the soup becomes creamy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve the soup hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
For a richer flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
You can substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
Adjust thickness by adding more broth or milk, depending on preference.
Joke of the Week
A man walks into a bar and says, "Give me a beer before the problems start!" He drinks the beer and then orders another saying, "Give me a beer before the problems start!"
The bartender looks confused. This goes on for a while, and after the fifth beer the bartender is totally confused and asks the man, "When are you going to pay for these beers?"
The man answers, "Now the problems start!"
