Serving Roseau County for over 100 Years - The Official Roseau County Newspaper

Due to receiving incorrect contact information from the district office at the Warroad schools, we are providing a statement from Warroad school board candidate Marques Stricker to add to the Times-Region's previous October 5 article on all candidates available at the roseautimes.com website. His statement is as follows:
My background is in management. I have a bachelor's degree in management and my background consists of leading successful business units with annual budgets in excess of $200-million and leading a successful business in Warroad for the past 5 years. I've had great success throughout my career and to accomplish that, you must also be successful with being fiscally responsible, making sound decisions, and creating and motivating complex and diverse teams.
I am running for a school board position because I believe in our school system and I have a personal interest in a quality and innovative education experience for all children. I bring substantial leadership experience and want to share my talents, my time, and real-world experiences to add value to the stakeholders of our district and to our teachers and support staff who can provide a quality well-rounded experience for our children.
Too often, organizations become complacent and begin to revert backwards. I don't want our district to become complacent. Our youth deserve a great education and once we become complacent, we lose morale, we lose relationships, we lose trust, and we scale back expectations and accountability. It should never be "good enough for Warroad" because I feel we can always do better.
