Peaceful Solitude in the BWCA

The summer of 1966 was a memorable summer. It was the first summer I experienced the breathtaking beauty of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, thanks to a special program in Lake of the Woods County. LOW County sponsored kids from low income families to attend a camp called Camp Buckskin near Ely. At eleven-years-old, I spent several life changing weeks attending Camp Buckskin on the beautiful shore of the Boundary Waters.
