Roseau Squirt A’s had 3 games this past week. Tuesday, Dec. 10th they headed to Warroad to play at the Gardens. They jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead but couldn’t hold. They ended up losing 3 – 5. They played good defense just played out on the big ice sheet. Looking forward to the next match in Roseau. It will be a fun game to watch.

The next battle was on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Rams Sport Center against Grand Rapids Squirt As. Roseau started out fast and didn’t look back. The boys passed the puck awesome and made some great plays. These boys are exciting to watch. The game ended 12-2, Roseau with the win.

The week ended with a game on Sunday, Dec. 15th against a scrappy TRF Squirt Team. Roseau opened the scoring with a 2 – 0 lead but TRF came back and added a goal. The boys came right back and scored another to make it 3 – 1 after the first. TRF then came out hard and tied it up but Roseau continued to work hard and scored 2 ending the second period up 5-3. TRF came out hard in the 3rd and tied up the game again 5 – 5 with 15 minutes to go. Roseau was having none of it and came back and scored 3 unanswered goals. Roseau then played tough D and made some nice passes to end the game with a great win. These boys work hard. They are a fun team to watch as they have good speed and play the game fast.

Next up for the boys is Sunday, Dec. 22 against RLF in Red Lake Falls, Saturday Dec. 28th vs Warroad at the Rams Sports Center, and Sunday Dec. 29th vs TRF in Thief River Falls

Roseau 10U B split a home weekend 1-1

Submitted by Roseau 10UB

The 10UB started off their home weekend with a matchup against Crookston on Saturday.   The Ram girls came out strong, skating toe-to-toe with a strong Crookston team, who won last week’s Grand Forks Tournament, and resulted in a 0-0 tie after the first.   The Pirates quickly over-matched the Roseau girls scoring on several rebound plays and great individual efforts, and pulling ahead 7-0 by the end of the second period.  The Rams pulled themselves together enough to keep a scoreless 3rd period, but could never really get anything going offensively to mount a comeback.

Sunday’s game against Bemidji started off much better, as the Roseau girls generated much more shots.  Brekka Lang scored the game’s first goal for 1-0 lead after the 1st.  The 2nd period showed more of the same.  Rayne Monkman came back hard on a back check forcing a turnover.  Monkman turned the play up ice, and eventually fed Brooklyn Kline in front of the net to put away her first goal of the year.  Roseau’s final goal came from Martine Reese clearing the zone for a line change, and Brekka Lang picked up the loose puck for her second goal of the game, and a 3-0 win.  The Roseau girls didn’t allow much defensively, and what they did allow were all stopped by goalies Bryjah Schnipkoweit and Abby Simmons for the first team shutout of the year.  The girls travel to Thief River Falls next weekend for their last game of the 2019 calendar year.
