Roseau 10U B split a home weekend 1-1
Submitted by Roseau 10UB
The 10UB started off their home weekend with a matchup against Crookston on Saturday. The Ram girls came out strong, skating toe-to-toe with a strong Crookston team, who won last week’s Grand Forks Tournament, and resulted in a 0-0 tie after the first. The Pirates quickly over-matched the Roseau girls scoring on several rebound plays and great individual efforts, and pulling ahead 7-0 by the end of the second period. The Rams pulled themselves together enough to keep a scoreless 3rd period, but could never really get anything going offensively to mount a comeback.
Sunday’s game against Bemidji started off much better, as the Roseau girls generated much more shots. Brekka Lang scored the game’s first goal for 1-0 lead after the 1st. The 2nd period showed more of the same. Rayne Monkman came back hard on a back check forcing a turnover. Monkman turned the play up ice, and eventually fed Brooklyn Kline in front of the net to put away her first goal of the year. Roseau’s final goal came from Martine Reese clearing the zone for a line change, and Brekka Lang picked up the loose puck for her second goal of the game, and a 3-0 win. The Roseau girls didn’t allow much defensively, and what they did allow were all stopped by goalies Bryjah Schnipkoweit and Abby Simmons for the first team shutout of the year. The girls travel to Thief River Falls next weekend for their last game of the 2019 calendar year.
