A perfect night for Men's League golf

"Tonight was fantastic. It was the 1st week in 7 that we haven't had rain," said Mark Wilson, the commissioner of the Men's League at Oakcrest and a happy camper on Wednesday evening.

"We had a couple of good rounds out there tonight, and the course is in good shape," he said.

There was a definite standout on the Back 9.

"Todd Brandt was our kingpin tonight," he said shortly after 9 p.m., noting that Mr. Brandt shot the round of the night.

"He shot 37 which, with his 9 handicap, leaves him with a 28, so he had the low gross and the low net," he said.

That alone would make for a fantastic outing, but there was more.

"And he had the longest putt on 18 tonight," chuckled Wilson. "He ended up with a trifecta."

Mr. Brandt won 3 sleeves of 3 golf balls each to shine at Oakcrest.

"This usually happens a couple of times a year," said Wilson. "It's fun when it happens."

On the Front 9, Jared Strand had the low gross of the night.

"He shot 3 under for a 33," he said. "That was his scratch score and the low score of the night"

Jack Lundbohm had the low net.

"He shot a 1 under 35, which turns into a net 31 with his 4 handicap," said Wilson, adding that Jim Mack was closest to the pin on 7.

Who sunk the longest putt?

"The longest putt I had actually watched was Justin Hanson's," said Mr. Wilson about the 4th sleeve winner on the Front 9.

"He knocked in about a 15 footer on number 9 to win the hole and the match," he said and laughed. "He beat me 12 to 8 tonight. He shot 38 and I shot 39."
