Baseball Rams end their up and down season

 


It was Casey Stengel, a Hall of Fame manager then in his seventies, who looked skyward in 1962 and said this about his fumbling New York Mets.

"Can't anyone here play this game?"

His first baseman, Marv Thronebery, made some astounding plays like not touching first and second bases on his way to a stand-up triple.

"Well, I know he touched third base because he's standing on it," said Stengel shortly before Marvelous Marv was called out by the umpire.

It's been that type of season for the 9 & 14 Rams, who were at times brilliant but at other times bumbling.
