There's a generation of Roseau hockey players, now no longer young, who played on the peewees under Dick Johnson, who demanded excellence while teaching them how to play the game with discipline, character, and class.
These days, Dick is battling Alzheimer's disease and is mostly silent, His great hockey mind can no longer be sought out for advice.
Some of his athletes, who played under Dick and won the state peewee title before going on to win the state high school title in 1990 under Coach Dean Blais, visited Mr. Johnson last weekend.
