Every Memorial Day, it should be raining, miserably cold, and midnight dark.

But they died on bright sunny days, too - these 56 men, a few still in their teens.

Their names are read off every Memorial Day in Roseau.

It is the least we can do.

They died at sea, in marshes, farm fields, forests, and crashing aircraft.

They died in famous places (Guadalcanal - Lloyd Lee Hanson - WW II), and they died in no-name places forever far from home and their loved ones.

That's what Memorial Day is all about - keeping their memories alive if just for this special day.
