There's A Nationwide Animal Shelter Crisis

Pennington County Humane Society in Thief River Falls is presently sheltering 30 dogs and 54 cats and kittens this December. They are licensed to shelter 30 dogs and 60 cats.

"There's a nationwide animal shelter crisis," explains Pam Stengrim, Operations Manager at Pennington County Humane Society. "All shelters are in crisis. There's also a shortage of veterinarians. Veterinarians are overwhelmed with the number of animals needing care. We only have one vet, Susan Burnett, in Thief River Falls. She's the only vet in Pennington County."
