Kathy Searle making doughnuts

Kathy Searle lives outside of Roosevelt in a home nestled among heavily wooded evergreens.

Wildlife are known to roam around her property at all hours of the day and night. It's not unusual for Kathy to see bears outside her home and even twice inside her porch.

"There was a smaller bear that broke my porch window and climbed inside and grabbed a five pound bag of peanuts," recalls Kathy. "Then he sat right in my yard beside my car eating them. That really annoyed me. I got my shotgun and shot at him, but I didn't shoot to kill. I didn't want a dead bear in my yard."
