Clarice Louise (Waage) Burkel was born on March 18, 1943 in Huss Township, Roseau County to Olaf and Louise (Vacura) Waage. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school in Greenbush. Following her graduation she went to work at M & Q café in Greenbush where she worked for many years.
