A final salute to a fine Marine whose battles are over

Lee Wicklander, a 1968 Roseau High School graduate and a combat veteran who served two tours in Vietnam with the Marines in the early 1970s and who came home from the war but was never able to escape the horrors of combat, was laid to rest at Elkwood Cemetery in the Beltrami Island State Forest last Saturday.

Mr. Wicklander, who died alone at his cabin in the forest on March 24 at age 66 just one day after his birthday, was honored last Saturday with a full contingent from the Roseau Military Honor Guard along with his family and friends on a fine afternoon when even the mosquitoes almost c...
