Little Megan Skoglund, 7, came racing across Veterans Memorial Park in Roseau just moments before the Roseau High School Marching Band led the way back from the gymnasium.

Maybe some day she'll remember this exact day when she ran across the grass and up the steps in her white bonnet while carrying a miniature American flag before sitting down in a chair reserved for veterans.

The Roseau first grader didn't sit for long, just long enough for a photo.

"My teacher is Mr. Bergstrom," she said with a giggle and then darted off.

Oh, the beauty of youth on a day when we celebrate those who died, man...
