Wojo's Hires Stand-Out Announcer for the Summer

Chad Nicholson

Wojo's Rodeo announced today that they have hired Chad Nicholson, a professional rodeo announcer, to take the microphone for their summer circuit, which includes rodeos at Thief River Falls on July 13, Gonvick on July 15 and 16, Roseau on July 20, and Island Lake, Lengby, Minn. on July 23.

This is quite a coup for Wojo's. Nicholson has only announced in Minnesota one other time, back in 1996. His list of accomplishments throughout this venue and across many others are impressive, to say the least, and he travels the world over plying his trade.

Attending Wojo's rodeos this summer will be even more entertaining than usual with Nicholson's knowledge, expertise and sought-after voice...sometimes smooth as silk, sometimes roaring with excitement, but always in the moment.

As a former contestant, to the announcer's stand as one of today's professional rodeo's stand out announcers, Chad Nicholson's life has been one adventure after another. He has announced in 39 states, Canada, and Australia. In the US, he is widely known for his powerful patriotic monologues used during the opening ceremonies of his shows. "Being a Former Marine, it's absolutely the favorite part of my job," he says, "and there aren't too many jobs where you can pray out loud and hear thousands of people sing our National Anthem every time you go to work."

In professional rodeo, Chad has enjoyed many accomplishments. He was recently selected as the 2015 Women's Pro Rodeo Association Announcer of the Year. In August of 2015 he emceed the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Colorado Springs, Colo. He has been selected 11 times PRCA Ram Circuit Finals Announcer in the Wilderness, California, Mountain States, and Turquoise Circuits; 2002 Ram National Circuit Finals PRCA Rodeo and first alternate in 2015, the 2010 Canadian Wrangler Tour Finale in Armstrong, BC; from 2008 to 2012, he was the lead commentator for the Pro Roughstock series TV show. Chad also won Announcer of the Year in 1995-96 for the California Cowboys Rodeo Association.

Outside of professional rodeo, Chad voices over radio/TV commercials, audio books, and various other projects around the world. In 2010 he co-announced the World Equestrian Games Opening Ceremonies in Lexington, Ky .; has worked at major NASCAR tracks announcing Monster Truck Shows; and various Equestrian Show productions such as the Del Mar Night of the Horse at the Del Mar National Horse Show in Del Mar, Calif., The Spirit of the Horse in Perth, Australia, and in 2012 he also was a part of the production crew for the United States' portion of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's 60th Diamond Jubilee Celebration, All the Queen's Horses, at Windsor Castle in Windsor, England.

He is also training the next generation of rodeo announcers. In 2006, at the urging of his friend, Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Announcer Bob Tallman, he founded the Chad Nicholson Rodeo Announcer Training Seminar. Held annually in Ft. Worth, Texas, Chad along with Bob and other special guests, work with current and aspiring announcers while honing their skills and improving their rodeo knowledge. When his 3-day seminar is over, he continues to mentor his students by helping them navigate their careers through coaching and leadership. He only takes 12 students per year, so his graduates are members of an exclusive fraternity of rodeo ambassadors. His Announcer Training Seminar is going on its 12th year with over 110 alumni from North America and Australia.

When he is not on the road, Chad makes his home in the Sierra Nevada Foothills community of Three Rivers, Calif. near Sequoia- Kings Canyon, National Parks, with his wife Jennifer who is an Entertainer and life coach as well. She is the Executive Director of Riata Ranch Int'l, Home of the Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls.(www.rrcowboygirls.com), 2011, 2013-15 PRCA Top 5 Specialty Act of the Year Nominees. Together, they host young women from around the world who come to learn how to perform, trick rope, trick ride, and work on a ranch, while learning valuable life lessons along the way.
