Around the Berry and Carla Haugen home in Pinecreek near the Canadian border, there is a feeling of wonderment how it all came about.
It couldn't have been any sweeter when their niece, Denise Haugen, without being asked, offered to be tested to see if she was a match for a kidney transplant that Berry so very dearly needed.
"Denise was a match," said Carla last weekend, explaining that her husband had been sick for four years and since July 2015 had been on dialysis.
"He was just basically living through dialysis on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday," she said, about the four-hour procedure.
