During the week of August 1-5, it was akin to basic training at Halvorson Field, the home field of the football Rams.

Under the direction of Lance Dubay, the Roseau High School band director, the marching band members were learning trickier patterns than most football teams must memorize.

Up in the press box, Mr. Dubay, who was assisted by four band instructors down on the field, had the kids moving like chess pieces.
