Believe it or not... back in the day... from elementary school to the end of junior high school... I was an altar boy.

I served the early morning Mass each day at seven and the afternoon Mass at four.

Back in those days... the Mass was conducted in Latin so we had to be proficient in saying the Mass in that long dead language.

Being an altar boy was actually fun... we got fed well by the nuns at breakfast and after the evening mass.

Besides... there were other perks like not having to be on time arriving at school and getting out of classes early to get to evening Mass on time.
