This Colonel is still standing tall

His kidneys are shot, he was shot at on numerous occasions, served in the military during three wars - starting with World War II - and was an Air Force pilot in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

What a life for retired Colonel Milton A. Arneson, a kid out of little Ross, Minnesota, who worked on a neighbor's farm during high school for room and board, was paid 30 bucks a month, and graduated from Badger High School in 1945.

There is one other thing. He was the mayor of Roseau for eight years, starting in the 1970s.

Soon to be 89, he's lucid, loquacious, literate, and lucky.

And he fondly remembers...
