Commissioners don't want you floating away

 


At their regular monthly meeting this past Tuesday, the Roseau County Commissioners held a public hearing on the new Flood Plain Ordinance.

Speaking afterwards, Commissioner Jack Swanson explained that they are required by FEMA to periodically approve an updated Flood Plain Ordinance.

"I think the last time the ordinance was redone was probably 15 years or so," he said, explaining that FEMA had recently released new flood plain maps.

"The last time they did that was in 1981, and so the new maps are significantly more accurate than the old maps.
