FEMA Gives Roseau the Green Light on Flood Protection

 


Finally, as of July 31, 2017, the City of Roseau will no longer be in the flood plain.

That's the word from Mayor Jeff Pelowski, who noted that only four residences will remain in the flood plain.

"We're hoping we will be able to work something out with these four to see what options are available," he said on Wednesday morning.

Three of those residences are on 3rd Avenue NE while one residence is directly across the street from the Veterans Memorial Park.

The mayor, like many homeowners in the city, has been paying flood insurance for 26 years because he has a mortgage on his home.
