Death is like a thief in the night - a destroyer of dreams, hopes, and true love.

On Monday, Loralee Popehn, 72, sat outdoors looking out at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis and remembered it all - her great love affair with the man she called Terry, whose death has crushed her.

I always called him Ralph, and our friendship dates back to a little after he and Loralee became a serious pair in the 1960s.

At times, she was close to tears; other times, she was like a rainbow of beautiful memories.

"No, it wasn't love at first sight," she said about when they first met while working part-time in the kit...
