By rights, Dorothy Heppner, a Dust Bowl kid from the Dakotas who moved to rural Warroad in 1937, shouldn't be 92.

She should be long dead.

She was burned out of her home, escaping with so little clothes on that early January morning in 1948 that she might have been mistaken for a burlesque queen had the neighboring farmers spotted her scantily dressed as she dashed out to the barn barefooted in the snow while carrying her one-year-old child, Ron.
