Ole Kompelien sat in his kitchen southwest of Roseau remembering his war.
Some of those distant memories had to be dug out of him. It was like an excavation.
At 88, Ole long ago distanced himself from his combat up on Pork Chop Hill during the Korean War when the Chinese and North Koreans tried to kill him and his buddies.
By the time he came home on leave from Korea, he had silently vowed never to march again.
He'd had his fill of it by the time he was done with basic training.
Now, he is losing his sight due to macular degeneration and has to watch his every step to avoid fa...
