Ward Anderson, the long-time Roseau Chief of Police, was momentarily at a loss for words when he was asked about shoplifting in his city.

"Now I'm trying to think. Everything is down right now," he said by phone a week ago Friday.

During the two plus months of non-essential businesses being closed, there were fewer opportunities to rip off local businesses.

Still, Roseau hasn't exactly been the fictional town of Mayberry on The Andy Griffith Show.

"Well," said Chief Anderson, "we've had a couple of burglaries. So, there are still things going on."
