U.S. Border Patrol agent Robert H. Lobdell was shot and killed as he tried to arrest an alleged illegal alien, George Ryan, on Christmas Day in 1928.
The news reports in the Roseau Times on December 28, 1928, noted that a posse tracked Ryan to Mud Creek Road where he was arrested the following day.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, George Ryan denied his guilt and even refused to reveal his past history.
