Inside the new Roseau High School gymnasium on Monday afternoon, Jerry Stainbrook, 84, was spotted in his wheelchair.
The place was rocking as the elementary school kids in the nearby bleachers were pumped up prior to the entrance of the Color Guard in about 20 minutes.
At his side was Grace Petrowski, his aide for the day. Mr. Stainbrook explained that he was born on 12/7/37, exactly four years prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
"I'm staying with my son over in Badger," he said, mentioning that he did several tours in Vietnam in the 1960s.
