Grappling Greenbush Girl is County's First State Champ

Sarah, the daughter of Andrew and Heidi Pulk, claimed the 152-pound state title at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Saturday evening.

Sarah Pulk had to defeat three opponents, one of whom had pinned her earlier this season.

At five-foot-two, the former figure skater caught the attention of appreciative wrestling enthusiasts for her gung-ho style.

"She was shooting good shots in the state finals, but the Apple Valley girl countered her in the first period," reported Gary Przekwas, who was one of the two stringers at the tournament for the Roseau Times-Region.
