Winnipeg- Doug was born to Ronald Harold Prelvitz and Georgina Marie (Cobiness) Prelvitz on July 31, 1967, in Milwaukee, Wis. Doug grew up and attended school in Warroad.

In 1986, Doug was united in marriage to Dawn (Rugland) Knutson. Although they later went their separate ways, they had two beautiful children together: Kayla and John. Later in life, Doug was blessed with his third child, son Patrick.
