Just days before Veterans Day, Roseau County Veterans Service Officer Marty Howes wasn't smiling.

He was very serious.

He was at his desk in his compact office at the Roseau County Courthouse dealing with paperwork and on a tight schedule.

He smiles often as he helps male and female county veterans

"I look at my job everyday as I'm looking out for my brothers and sisters, those that I have served with and those I haven't served with but who have had the same or similar experiences as myself."

He stated that his job is personal.
