Don Miller, 74, would chase a rainbow if it caught his fancy. Probably a twister too.

It just happens that he's fascinated with total eclipses of the sun.

Back in 1972 when Don was living in Minneapolis, he and a friend drove up to northern Quebec in pursuit of a solar eclipse.

"It was 1,700 miles one way," he said.

"We got up there about 20 minutes before the eclipse was going to commence.

"Then, it clouded up and nobody saw anything. We got in the car and drove back."

It's like fishing. You don't always catch a fish.

Nicely, these days, his wife, Doris, is game for any adventure.
