The Days of '76 Museum began as a repository for the horse-drawn wagons, stagecoaches, carriages, clothing, memorabilia, and archives. It is now a state-of-the-art facility filled with exhibits. The museum also features a variety of different sounds throughout the carriage, wagon, and stagecoach gallery to make the experience more immersive and memorable.

In 1930 pioneer businessman W.E. Adams founded the Adams Museum in Deadwood, with the purpose of preserving and displaying the history of the Black Hills. He donated the building to the City of Deadwood.
