It was an interesting start to Mother's Day 2023.

A female acquaintance texted quite early on Sunday morning.

Are you making Autumn breakfast?

I thought it was a trick question because nobody has ever asked that before.

"Never! She's not big on my cooking - even if I'm making coffee," I texted back.

I bought her nothing.

Neither flowers nor candy.

Keep it simple so she expects nothing.

Then, of course, I realized I had spoiled her rotten a week ago Wednesday in Grand Forks.

For $3.88, I bought her a packet of four Silicone Rings at Walmart.
