In a special two-year election, Zach Swanson will face incumbent Sandra Weiland to fill out the remaining two years of a seat that had been held by Keith Markstrom.

Zach Swanson, a radio broadcaster for Wild 102 FM, explained his reasons for running.

"Mainly, it's because I'm around students, teachers, support staff and front office people a lot, and this is an opportunity to help out with the school board," he said. "It's also an opportunity to do something else for the community."

The Twin Cities native who graduated from Burnsville High School described the Roseau School as unique.
