Lake of the Woods Reel Fishing Adventures

TJ Huerd decided to take his passion to the next level and open his own guide service, Lake of the Woods Reel Fishing Adventures.

TJ found his passion for fishing at a very young age. "My dad took me fishing when I was just a kid, around 4 or 5 years old," he said.

As he grew older he would skip their family Christmases to go out ice fishing. He jumped at any chance he could to be out on the lake, as it was his favorite thing to do.

Even at a young age he seemed to be a professional fisherman. He said, "Whenever we went fishing I would catch most of the fish." It hasn't changed, if you follow TJ on Facebook, Lake of the Woods Reel Fishing Adventures, you can witness first hand that he knows what he is doing and where the fish are biting. It only made sense to make a career out of his passion. You will never work a day in your life, if you enjoy what you do!

Lake of the Woods offers some of the best year-round fishing that you can find and you can ice fish in early December to late March, go right into river fishing and then out to the lake for summer fishing.

Lake of the Woods is quite large and to have someone as experienced and knowledgeable as TJ can only make for the best fishing trip of your life!

You can find Walleye, Northern Pike, Sturgeon, Sauger, Perch and more. It is important to have an experienced guide to fully appreciate your time on the lake. He will also share his knowledge on the history of the lake area too. He is quite the history buff and his great-grandpa owned a fishery near Long Point.

Whether you are experienced or inexperienced, a group of all girls, young or old, TJ will provide you with a great experience. He enjoys teaching new things and sharing his passion with others. If you can't bait your hook or take your fish off, he is there to do it for you or teach you how, if you would like to learn.

There are many ways to catch fish but TJ tends to jig, use drift spinners, troll crank baits and shad rap. He has also come up with his own "redneck down rig" which is pulling crank baits with a leader behind a bottom bouncer he explained. He doesn't feel downrigging is true fishing, it is to commercialized and can kill the fish.

If you don't have the fishing equipment rest assured TJ will get you fishing with his and if you have your favorites bring them with. He is very flexible and just wants you catching fish and enjoy what the lake has to offer.

Going out with his dad, with his friend and his dad, by asking a lot of questions to other people he knew fished and lots of trial and error is how TJ has become a force to be reckoned with on the lake.

A lot of people wanted TJ to take them out fishing after monitoring his success and knowledge on his Facebook page, Lake of the Wood Reel Fishing Reports. You can learn a lot of tips or find the day's hot spot. You can also share your knowledge and success stories and photos. Keep it "Reel".

You can be assured TJ will do everything he can possibly do to make the fishing trip an experience of a lifetime. Whether this is your first trip or your one-hundredth it will be an adventure with TJ. He will give you all the tips you need for a great experience, but most of all he will put you on the fish.

Don't worry if you limit out before your fishing day is over, TJ enjoys assisting people in trying new things. For instance if you limit out on Walleye he will get you on another type of fish. Some that you may never have fished for before. It's not over until it's over. He will utilize your whole day.

He plans to expand into sleepers and day houses in the future, but for the immediate, if you would like to have a fishing adventure future call TJ at 218-689-6337 or message him on Facebook Lake of the Woods Reel Fishing Adventures.
