He surely isn't Santa Claus since Phillip Kotta, one of the four remaining local assessors for the Roseau County Assessor's Office, will knock first before entering.

Mr. Kotta will be wrapping up 30 years this coming summer.

He is 70, and they are phasing him out like those icemen who once delivered blocks of ice to households before the coming of refrigeration.

"Officially, I'll be done the first of July in 2020. I've already dropped seven townships from last year," he said, adding that personnel from the Roseau County Assessor's Office are now assessing in those townships.
