Gavin Waage loves sports and life

This is a catch-up story on an amazing little boy so full of life, who was born with a defective heart.

Gavin Waage, 7, who has relatives and friends in this area, was first covered in the Roseau Times-Region several years ago.

One week before Christmas, his mother, Tasha Waage, noted that her son will eventually need a heart transplant.

"But we don't know when that's going to be," she said by phone from Grand Rapids.

"He's been doing well and is still playing hockey," she said. "He's on the mini-mites and is a first grader."
