It's a fine day to say goodbye

I'm sure if Pastor Joe Elick ever read my columns, he probably shook his head and wondered where I went wrong.

I would read his columns occasionally and think similar thoughts.

I'd think, "Pastor Joe, you can't believe there is any good in that scoundrel Trump."

Of course, I never said anything to him.

Nor he to me.

We were on completely different sides of the political spectrum.

All I know is that he went through hell with his many bouts of cancer. But even in the final weeks before he was hospitalized and died, he was in this office at lunchtime with his wife, Julie.
