Robyn Wiskow has been employed by Citizen State Bank for 40 years. This is a personal milestone that she should be very proud to claim. Robyn was born and raised in Roseau. She married Kevin Wiskow in 1979. Robyn and Kevin had two children, Bruce and Michele. Their son Bruce was in an automobile accident in 2003 and passed away at the age of 17. “He was the love of my life,” Robyn proudly stated. There isn’t a day that goes by that Robyn doesn’t think of her son. Michele, their daughte...
When Joe Laurin began working in the Engineering Department at Polaris Industries twenty-nine years ago, he expected to stay in northern Minnesota less than five years. Then something unexpected happened; Joe Laurin fell in love! First with a lovely Strathcona girl named Anita, then with a great big beautiful lake called Lake of the Woods. "I grew up a city boy in Chicago, but attended college in Winona where I worked at both a Polaris dealership and for a company that sold canoes," explained...

With just two weeks remaining in the second half of the Men's Golf League at Oakcrest in Roseau, Byfuglien Trucking, which has two thin guys and four guys who are very good eaters and belong on the offensive line of the Minnesota Vikings, are poised to challenge the Peace Grenades, the first half winners, if BT can maintain its lead. The two thin guys are Zach Johnson and Karl Nelson, who team with heavyweights Derrick Byfuglien, Oliver Ullman, Jon Byfuglien, and Jeremy Byfuglien. On the front...
Some showers earlier in the day gave way to a beautiful evening and a great night of racing at the Greenbush Race Park. It was a special for the Streets, and 15 cars lined up hoping to take home the big money. Outside polesitter John Halvorson of Warren, would be the early leader in the 25 lap feature. Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks, and Jerome Berger of Badger, made sure Halvorson never got too far out front. It was a good four car race through the middle stages of the feature between Halvorson, Pederson, Aaron Blacklance of Thief River F...

Thank you to all who renewed and continue to read and support the Times-Region! The Roseau Civic and Commerce held a costume contest for the businesses. Coast True Value came in...
To the Editor, Big news. Sheldon Larson has a smart phone! I just thought he got all his intelligence by watching Fox News all day on his television, but now, he admits to owning another weapon of mass destruction. I’m not going to suggest that Sheldon Larson is the “Henny Penny” of Roseau County, because, well, he’s really more like “Ducky-Daddles”. When Henny Penny insists the sky is falling, Ducky-Daddles should have whipped out his smart phone and asked, “Is the sky falling?” And, instead of paying attention to the first few hits that are m...
As head coach of the Roseau Legion Post #24 baseball team I felt obligated to address some of the issues that were covered in last week’s issue. The prior “letter to the editor” highlighted a lack of sportsmanship on behalf of a few baseball players and a lack of follow-through from the coaching staff. Hopefully this will give readers a better understanding of what went on, how things were handled, and where we go from here. In our district tournament game two Fridays ago, we did have a pair of players throw equipment and the players conti...
To the Editor, My attention was captured, and I was stirred by an article reprinted from the March 6, 2018 edition of the New York Post. It was titled, “The Enemy Amongst Us,” by Charles Krauthammer (Now deceased). It was submitted to the Roseau Times Region by Sheldon Larson and printed in July 28, 2018 edition of the paper. If you haven’t read it I think you might find it challenging. Check with the Roseau Times or go on line. The article stirred my imagination to think about a prayer meeting in Washington. A large hall could be rented so al...
